Honestly I am totally new to the twitter thing, and just figured out how to make it work with my phone, so hopefully I do not get stuck!

Anyway this week we are going on Mission with the Sr. High, follow us from June 20-27 to see what kind of stuff we are doing!

Remember we do not have any youth fellowship this coming weekend because of mother's day! Do something nice for your mom!

The talent show was a major success

The talent show was great! Special thanks to all who helped and to all the participants. We collected almost $2000 towards our mission trip! Not only that we had a great time, and have a lot of left over food to dilever to the local mission agencies.

We had 16 great acts. The sanctuary was nearly full for the show. We had over 120 people for dinner, not counting our youth, and in the sanctuary at the show itself we had close to if not more than 200 people including youth.

Again this was a great time, thanks to all who helped.

Talent Show this Sunday

Just a quick reminder that the talent show is this Sunday. The dinner is at 6 with the show to follow at 7. Youth are to be at the church at 5pm

Also if you are a Sr. High student who is going on the Mission trip I need you to stick around after the 11 o'clock service Sunday morning to help set up.

The Cross of Christ

We know that God is perfect we know that He stands as a righteous judge over all the earth. We also know that a righteous judge cannot acquit the guilty, nor condemn the righteous. In other words, a judge that lets guilty people go is not righteous, and a judge that condemns innocent people is not righteous. Proverbs 17:15 outlines this clearly, check it out.

Enter us, standing before a righteous God. Have we committed any crime? What? We have broken God’s commandments (Exodus 20:3,4,7,8,12,13,14,15,16,17), we have thought incredibly wicked thoughts, we have been deceivers, liars, fornicators, and idolaters. We have not done what is right in the sight of the Lord, yes, we have sinned greatly and innumerable times. More than that it is not as if we have sinned against some mayor, or president, we have sinned against the king of kings, sinning against one who is infinite, requires punishment of infinite degree, in order that justice be served.

Now we have established that a righteous judge cannot let the guilty go, nor a righteous judge condemn the innocent, and God Himself is a righteous judge, and we are guilty of sin, so what hope do we have? If God forgives us, He ceases to be righteous!!

Enter Jesus Christ, Jesus was perfect in all ways, and exactly what God the Father had commanded Him to be. Yet if we read Isaiah 53 especially Isaiah 53:10 we will find that God the Father actually punished His Son! Now God has a major problem, because not only does God offer forgiveness to guilty people, He also punished a perfectly righteous person, His Son. How can God be righteous, while punishing the innocent, and forgiving the guilty?

Enter the cross, on the cross Jesus Christ actually took our sin upon Himself. Yeah that is right, all of our sin, our unrighteousness, our immorality, our lying, lusting, hatred and anger... all of it (1 Peter 2:24). Leaving us with what? His righteousness! You see in exchange for our wickedness we received His righteousness... Christ traded places with us. Then what? Well, God the Father punished our sin with all of His might and remained righteous and good. How did He punish our sin? On the cross, remember Jesus took our place and endured the penalty of our sin (Isaiah 53:5,6). So God did punish sin as a righteous judge, and more than that those who are in Christ cannot be punished by God the Father because we have been given the righteousness of Christ!! Remember a judge that condemns the innocent is an abomination, and Christ gave us His innocence in place of our wickedness.

That is what the cross is all about... and in the end that is what 6twelve youth ministry is all about. So if you go to another youth fellowship, that’s fine by me. If you are not interested in what we do, that’s cool too, but please deal with the cross, bow before the Christ, because He has done the ultimate for you, and most importantly do not deny this gift He has given... He has paid the price, and He deserves your worship.
